Today was the fullest, most fruitful day I ever had! It was a great day, and I had so much fun! I went with Clarence and ZZ to East Coast Park with the purpose of me learning to ride a bicycle, with was completely successful. First, we met at Yio Chu Kang MRT Station, and continued to the Coffee shop to have a meal (Clarence was hungry). After eating, we immediately took bus 76 to Parkway Parade; it was already quite late, so there was no time to loose, ha. I'm actually quite astonished by the bus services here, never in my wildest dreams did I expect it possible to take a single bus and make it all the way from my house to East Coast Park, all the way at the South East of the island. So anyway, we made it there ZZ was hungry, so he bought some snacks from Old Chung Kee and so did Clarence and I, just for the sake of it. It was a short walk before East Coast Park was within view, and before I knew it, I was already standing by the sea. As we strolled to the bicycle rental shop, I began to feel nervous, its stupid, I know, but hey, its my first time. And there was the shop, this old run-down building with bikes lined in rows and rows. We picked a set of three medium (to me) sized bicycles. After all the administrative stuff was completed, I started to learn the bike. I was lost, and the hordes of children rushing past me made the whole ordeal even more difficult to handle. Fortunately, there was a lifeguard building thing which was deserted and closed just beside the bike shop, it had a nice empty lane in front of it with a long path leading to it, there was not a soul in sight, and made a perfect place to learn the bike. I must say, it wasn't easy, I kept hesitating, which was the main obstacle for me, because once I felt calm, riding the bike became possible. Clarence and ZZ were very patient, and didn’t hasten me at all, even though I was wasting the duration of rent they paid for. I stumbled and staggered for quite a while before getting the hang of it, and there I was, cycling! For the first time in my life! It was actually quite an emotional moment, if I do say so myself. It took me about half an hour to get the hang of it, and another twenty minutes to start cycling long distances. We cycled all the way to the end of the park and then took a rest. I felt so good after the cycle, and the rest seemed to be like a little "reward". After cycling back to the shop to return the bikes, we strolled around the park and went down to the beach. After C (I'll just call Clarence C for convenience) and ZZ persuaded me to remove my shoes, we went to the shore to walk barefooted on the beach and let the waves message our feet in therapeutic motions (We played in the water LOL). The stroll on the beach lasted for quite awhile, at moments we would stand in a row, letting the waves hit our legs, and standing motionless, much like the large statues on Easter Island. We then sat on the rocks above the beach of a photo, taken by our photographer for the day, C. After resting for a while, we went down to the beach to walk again, unfortunately, the beach here was much dirtier and the water completely gross, with black bits suspending here and there. We washed our feet as soon as we left the beach; I wore back my shoes, in preparation of the long "hike" ahead, to the other end of the Park for dinner. We walked and talked, and it felt so relaxing, with the sea breeze and all. By the time we reached the food court, I was very hungry. We all has western food, I had the Chicken cutlet, while C and ZZ had Chicken chop. The food was great and I enjoyed myself very much. Then comes the long walk back to Parkway Parade, all the way to the west, about 3.75 km away. By the time we reached PP, our legs felt like breaking, so finding a place to sit was absolutely necessary, which we found at the food court at the basement. We then walked around before going home. It was a tiring day, but most fruitful one as well, I sure had tons of fun, and I will never forget this day. Now, my backside is aching, I think I should go to bed.
Btw, thanks ZZ for your gift fron China, really like it.
